Phil Allanson works at the Safe Radiation laboratory as the Operations Manager. His career began assisting in nuclear medicine & imaging procedures, transitioned to emergency and medical duties in the RAAF, and later shifted to health/IT in the business sector. Phil found his passion in the radiation protection industry after a stint in mineral exploration using pXRF analysis during his science studies. Phil’s main focus as President of the group is to encourage a positive safety culture and continuing development of behaviours and values that support the safe and secure use of radiation sources and practices in industry.
General Secretary: Rohitha baskar
Dates Active: (2026 – Present)
Rohitha Baskar is a Radiation Safety Consultant and Medical Physicist with experience in radiation safety, compliance and occupational health and safety. She holds master’s degrees in Medical Physics and Occupational Health and Safety Science and is an IAEA Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellow.
As RSUG Secretary, Rohitha is passionate about supporting and strengthening the radiation safety community.
Secretary & Events co-ordinator: Rizwana Uzma

Rizwana Uzma is a radiation industry professional with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and practical experience in radiation instrument calibration and measurement. Working as a Technical Officer with Safe Radiation, she brings a strong focus on accuracy, quality and compliance to her work. As RSUG Secretary & Events Coordinator, Uzma supports the organisation and its commitment to advancing radiation safety, and industry engagement.

Years of Service: 2004–2026
Kathy Lawrenson is the Managing Director of McKavanagh Engineering Services Pty Ltd and has been an active member of the industry since 2002. She joined the RSOQ (Users Group) Executive Committee as Secretary in 2004 and was elected President of RSUG in March 2015.
Over more than two decades of service, Kathy made a significant contribution to the user group through her leadership, industry experience, and longstanding commitment to its members.
